What are vampire facials?
Vampire facials, also known as PRP facials, are a skin treatment that uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood to promote healing and regeneration. The process involves drawing a small amount of blood, separating the PRP in a centrifuge, and applying it to the face after a microneedling session.
The nickname “vampire facial” comes from the use of your own blood-derived plasma. While the name sounds dramatic, the treatment is safe, comfortable, and widely praised for its results.
What are the benefits of vampire facials?
- A natural skin rejuvenation treatment: Vampire facials are known for delivering a healthy, radiant complexion. At the Center for Women's Health, many patients notice that their skin looks brighter and more refreshed just days after treatment.
- Reduction in fine lines and acne scars: As PRP stimulates collagen production, it helps improve skin texture and elasticity. Over time, this can reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and enlarged pores.
- Natural, long-lasting results: Because the treatment uses your body’s own healing process, results develop gradually and look natural. Improvements can continue for weeks after your session and last several months.
What is the vampire facial process?
- Consultation and skin assessment: Each treatment begins with a one-on-one consultation to determine if vampire facials are right for you. Your Center for Women's Health provider will assess your skin goals and answer any questions you have.
- Microneedling: A microneedling device is used to create tiny channels in the skin. This prepares the skin to absorb the platelet-rich plasma more effectively and stimulates collagen on its own.
- Application of PRP: A small blood draw is performed, and the PRP is separated and applied directly to the face. The plasma penetrates deep into the skin through the microneedling channels, activating the body’s natural healing response.
- Aftercare and results: Patients may experience redness and mild swelling for 1–2 days following treatment, similar to a light sunburn. Most people return to their normal routine within 24–48 hours. Results become visible within a week and continue to improve over time.
